Amy dropped a bomb on me today when she posted on my Facebook wall that the zodiac signs had shifted to make way for sign no. 13 (that, alone, tells you how stupid all this is. Yeah, like I want to be one of the lucky ones to have zodiac number 13 as my sign…). It’s a serpent-man beast kind of sign. So unappealing.
But what I care about most is that, according to Dr. Zodiac, I am no longer a Pisces; I am an Aquarian.
At least that’s what I think. Why don’t I let you be the judge? Seriously–if you know me at all, you tell me: am I forever a Pisces? Or am I better suited to be called an Aquarian, like I’m suddenly supposed to be doing?
A Pisces Is:
Pisces witness to the difficult task of straddling this divide – between the human and the divine. More than any other sign, perhaps, Pisces experiences normal human life as limited, for it excludes so much that can make life more complete. Yet, even Pisceans have to live as human beings in a world full of limitations. Coming to terms with the necessity to live in a world separate from Paradise can be an immense problem. Some may attempt to live as if exclusion from Paradise had never happened, and live life in a constant daydream, very ineffective in the world as it is. Others, however, may learn to live life in the human arena in such a way as to infuse it with divine meaning.
Pisces is often associated with music, dance, drama and other forms of art, as these can give a sense that there is something beyond life lived at the simply human level, and can open up people’s awareness to a richer reality than that lived in day to day living. Alcohol and drugs can also provide awareness of another dimension, but used unwisely, they are regressive rather than progressive, and represent an escape to the womb rather than an advance to a richer life infused with wealth from a spiritual dimension.
An Aquarian Is:
Aquarius witnesses to our membership of the human race, and to the importance of the creative activity of humanity. Following Capricorn, which emphasises the importance of the proper functioning of society, and the need to be a responsible member thereof, Aquarius may be seen as observing the boundaries and structures that people have made for themselves in order to live satisfactorily with each other, and noticing that people can be trapped therein, disabling them from living a fully human life unfettered by duties and responsibilities.
Therefore, Aquarius aims to show how to live within society without being bound by it in such a way as to stifle human creative activity. As an air sign, it does this by having an ideal about how life for humanity ought to be – but like all ideals, it has to deal with reality in terms of what human beings are really like, rather than simply how the mind considers they ought to be like, and this can lead to some painful lessons in life.
